Van Conversion Window Installation – Van Life DIY – Class B Living

Are you considering, or already underway with a van conversion? Before you go cutting a giant hole in the wall of your rig, we thought you might appreciate a step-by-step tutorial on how to install a window in a conversion van. In this detailed DIY video, we’ll show you how to install Motion Windows into a Class B rig.

If you saw how we replaced our RV window a few years ago, you know it’s not as difficult as it might seem. But what if you’re not replacing a window, but adding one where there wasn’t one before? After the stellar experience we’ve had with our replacement window (it’s by far the highest-quality window in our RV now), we’re back at Peninsula Glass in Vancouver, WA. We’ll not only show you exactly how to complete this project, but we’ll share professional tips and tricks that make the job a breeze.

While the primary van we demonstrate on is a Ram ProMaster, we also cover the minor differences in installing a window into a Sprinter or Transit van conversion. Metris vans are very similar, so you should have no problem with the project, no matter what type of van you have.

My apologies-this is a question rather than a comment about this article. Not long ago I thought you guys had put out info on how to replace the springs on leveling Jacks-with tips about how best it can be done. I looked through your site and did not find it-maybe I missed it. If you have that link it will be appreciated. I am replacing the springs on all four of my HWH jacks. Thank you, and thanks for all the very useful info you post on your website-long time subscriber-you guys are living the good life!

Professionals can make the job seem so easy and they are fun to watch. I can think of two quick examples:

One: at 2:23 George cuts out the cardboard template freehand. Look at how precisely he follows the straight line - it is incredible.

Another example: using George's tips of taping the first two cuts then leaving small tabs until the end is brilliant.

Watching this video makes me feel that I could help out should anyone I know ever decide to do a van or skoolie conversion.

Like the say, John... practice makes perfect! And George has had plenty of practice installing windows... those two items you identified are perfect examples of how he has refined the technique over time. Glad to hear this has made you confident enough to help tackle this... we'll keep you in mind if our next RV ends up being a conversion project! ?
