Australia Campervan Wrap-Up

Australia Campervan Wrap-Up

We’ve had an incredible time caravanning here in Australia. The people we’ve met and places we’ve seen are now cherished memories that will last a lifetime. And we know we want to come back!

But now that our time here is coming to an end, let’s review our experience and cover some of what it was like here in Oz. In this video, we discuss some of our takeaways from our adventure.

Thanks to all of you who followed along with us all these weeks. We’ll have one last Australia video coming up after this, with a few final reflections as we arrive at the Maui rental office in Sydney to return our trusty campervan.

Ok, you convinced me. I'm going to start planning my Australian campervan adventure. It may take a few years for it to actually happen, but I'm going. Thanks for letting us all tag along.

That is awesome, Corinne! It is the most wonderful place and we know you'll love it as much as we do.

Excellent (almost) end-of-the-trip summary of your caravan. That being said, would it have been too hard to splice in some more ocean views? :)

I've watched every video, read every post, and enjoyed your enjoyment as you stomped on some of the same beaches Kathy & I did years ago.

If you made one mistake it is the same one we did: You should have taken a much heaver wallet and stayed for three times as long. (I know that is easy to say, hard to do.)

No more ocean views for you! LOL You should have seen the footage we DIDN'T use. Man it's beautiful Down Under, but obviously, we don't have to tell you. If we could, we would simply stay in Oz indefinitely. It's not unusual for us to fall in love with other countries we visit and not want to leave. But Australia has been a real love affair. We can easily see ourselves going back for an open-ended visit and never leaving.

Thanks so much for coming along for the ride, John. It's been a pleasure having you ride shot-gun with us. Stay tuned for one final video about arriving in Sydney, along with a few bloopers from previous videos just for laughs.

How long did you rent it for and what was the cost? Did you venture across the country to Perth and Western Australia?

We rented for just shy of 3 weeks, but didn’t keep a detailed log of expenses. But we’re currently editing one final video about returning our campervan and heading to Sydney. So we’re assembling our receipts and will include some details about what we spent on campervan rental, diesel fuel and caravan parks in that video. We didn't make it to Western Australia this time (just the 2,000 miles from Port Douglas to Sydney) but we sure do want to get out there next time!

Absolutely wonderful series of videos and posts on your trip. Thanks a bunch.

Hate to harp on this. Know you're planning to upgrade your RV headlights. My right lamp just died. I don't plan much night driving right now, but am eager to see your upcoming post.

Thanks so much, Don! No worries about looking for that RV headlight conversion video. We connected with Andrew from CoolBulbs while we were down in SoCal, just before we left for Australia. We had him look at the headlight setup on our coach and we got a set of lights that should do the job, converting us to the same type of bright white HID headlights we installed in our CR-V last year. We're in transit at the moment, but we're expecting to get them installed, tested and videoed by the end of next month, when we'll stationary for a while. Sorry for the delay, but if you can hang on for a bit longer, we really want to be sure we have them in correctly and can be confident of recommending them. By the time we get that all done and have a video up, it might be mid-July, but we have it on our to-do list, and appreciate your patience. Hope you can wait, since your headlights just died. So sorry for the delay, and we'll certainly get them in sooner if w can.
