We’re the type of RVers who like to mix it up. We’ve stayed everywhere from National Parks to Wal-Mart, and even splurged on luxurious motorcoach resorts.

One of the coolest places to camp is with friends or relatives who have the space to accommodate an RV. But how many friends do you have, and how many of them have room for your rig?

There’s a great way to harness the spirit of community that exists among RVers, allowing us to stay with friends, on private property, legally, all over North America (and even in a few places abroad).

It’s called Boondockers Welcome, and it’s the only tool we’ve seen that allows us to connect with fellow RV enthusiasts in such a unique way. Becoming a member links us up with people who do exactly what the name implies — they welcome boondockers!

We’re pleased to announce that Marianne & Anna, the mother-daughter team that created the concept and the website, are offering a special discount to RVgeeks viewers: 15% off their initial membership in Boondockers Welcome. Use the Coupon Code “RVGEEKS15” when you join and you’ll automatically get the discounted price.

We’re even more excited to announce that five lucky RVgeeks viewers will each win a 3-year Boondockers Welcome membership in our latest RVgeeks Giveaway. That’s a total of nearly $300 in prizes!

  1. LOVE Boondockers Welcome! We’ve been traveling around North America for over 2 years now and have stayed with dozens of BW hosts. It has enriched our experience dramatically. Thank you Marianne & Anna for creating such a great resource.

    1. Hi Nancy,

Sorry… there isn’t any pop-up or even much of an obvious indicator that your submission has been taken. Unfortunately, we don’t have any control over that since it’s a 3rd party tool we use to handle the giveaways. But, we just logged in to the system and the good news is… we see your entry was successfully submitted. So you’re entered in the giveaway!

      Best of luck!

  2. I’m not going to enter the contest as we have not yet completed our deal on a RV (But it’s going to be a Newmar; very likely a genteelly used Newmar Essex.)

However I do want to say that I’ve been following a couple of RV sites (e.g. you guys and the Wynns) and really appreciate the tips, tricks and advice you blog. I’ve just looked at the Boondockers Welcome site and it looks like it will be a ‘must have’ for us.

    Take care,

    John

    1. Sorry Steven. You’re absolutely right! We are so used to having prizes that need to be shipped that it was a reflex to do our usual US and Canada eligibility. There are definitely Boondockers Welcome hosts and members in Australia and New Zealand and you should feel free to enter the giveaway. We will change the wording to remove the geographic restriction ASAP. Best of luck in the giveaway!

  3. I found out about this site & Offer by watching your video – Legal RV camping on private Property- Boondocker’s welcome on Youtube. I would love to win one of your memberships.

  4. My wife and I are recent retirees. purchased our first motor home and hope to enjoy many rewarding times traveling the country. Learning many tips watching your excellent videos. Hope you keep them coming, we are never too old to learn from others who have “been there, done that”.

    1. Congratulations on your first motorhome purchase, Dan! Even though ours was over 13 years ago, we still remember how exciting it was. Obviously, we never quite got the bug for RVing out of our systems. ;-) Thanks for the comment. We’ll do our best to keep ’em coming. And you’re right about learning. We still learn new tricks after all these years.

    1. Hi Randy! Solar is awesome and we love it, but it’s not necessarily not for everybody. Many people think that the goal of solar panels on an RV is to save money by pulling power from the sun instead of a power pedestal. Since they’re a fairly costly investment, it would take a while to recoup the costs, and that’s not our primary reason for having them. We want to be able to camp in remote places without having to run our generator all the time, and the panels help with that a lot. It’s more about quality of life (i.e. peace & quiet) than money for us. Of course we do save money on nightly stays by boondocking for free, so that is an indirect financial savings of solar panels. ;-)

  5. Geeks are very easy to communicate with. Have had many questions sent in private that they have answered lickity split…Thats fast :)

    1. Hi Jan. It should definitely show “submitted” if you successfully entered, and then give you the option of adding additional entries (Pinterest, Twitter, etc). We just logged in to the Giveaway Tools dashboard and do not see your entry. Give it another try and be sure to include your RV’s year, make & model in the required field. Let us know if you continue to have difficulty, and best of luck in the giveaway!
