Xantrex Interviews The RVgeeks About Lithium Batteries

TheRVgeeks Electrical, Great RV Products, Updates & Upgrades 12 Comments

We generally do our own RV mods, and shoot all of our own video footage. But Xantrex did our lithium installation, and interviewed us, too. For a change it felt nice to sit back and let someone else do the camera work and ask the questions! ?

We wanted to share these short videos (about 2 to 3 minutes each) with you. If you’re interested in lithium, we cover many aspects of our decision and experience. You can either watch each individual video by clicking on them below, or you can auto-play the entire playlist from start to finish here on the Xantrex YouTube channel.

As a quick reminder about our two most recent posts….

First… We’ll be speaking live at the 2019 Xscapers Bash, their largest convergence of the year, this coming Tuesday, 1/15/19 at 5 pm at the Lake Havasu Rodeo Grounds. Tuesday is the one day during the sold-out week-long Bash that’s free and open to the public. If you’re here with us in the Havasu area, we hope you can come by to hear us speak, and meet us in person. If you missed the short video we made inviting you to the Bash, check it out here.

Second… Don’t forget that M4 LEDs and Tough Top Awnings are both holding a special Winter Sale for RVgeeks viewers. If you’re planning to upgrade your lights, or replace your old awning or slide topper fabric this year, now’s the time to snag 10% off, double our usual discount!

Why We Chose a Professional for Lithium Ion Battery Installation:

We're handy RVers, not professional technicians. We're happy with the techniques and products we use, but be sure to confirm that all methods and materials you use are compatible with your equipment and abilities. Regardless of what we recommend, consult a professional if you're unsure about working on your RV. Any task you perform or product you purchase based on any information we provide is strictly at your own risk.

We sometimes receive products for evaluation at no cost, and The RVgeeks are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites. But our opinions are our own, you won’t pay an extra penny, and we only link to products we personally use, love and can recommend to friends with complete confidence.

  1. We’re excited to see the new eGen. We have been waiting for our own batteries to “get tired” so we could go with lithium. But we didn’t like the idea of having to take up space “inside” of the RV. We have been patiently watching all your videos putting yours together and look forward to our upgrade soon. We love our Xantrex Inverter! (same as yours) It has served us well! Thanks again for all your sharing!

Thanks Paula & Larry! Your timing, by waiting for your batteries to really be ready for replacement, might be perfect. Our current understanding is that Xantrex will be lining up authorized installers for the e-GEN system sometime this year. Stay tuned for updates!

  2. Is Xantrex going to use the videos on their website? Just asking because the last time I checked they did not have the Freedom e-Gen battery in their “Recreational Vehicles” tab. (But they do have a very detailed diagram with a lot of other products.)

Hi John. Not sure if they plan to put them on their website, but there is limited availability of the e-GEN battery through authorized installers only. We think they’re not quite ready yet… but hopefully soon!

  3. Wow! Great video explanations for the installation and the reasons for all the different procedures for a complete and compatible system. Only from the RV Geeks would we all learn this valuable information. Thank you.

Thanks, Pat! We though Xantrex did a really good job putting these videos together (and it sure was nice to just have to sit there and answer questions, LOL!)

  4. Thanks again for another educational and inspirational video! My husband and I have been researching the change to Lithium and the sheer number of companies out there is a bit overwhelming to a couple of new RVers such as ourselves.
We have decided to go with Xantrex also, as well as a brand new solar system.
Keep up the amazing work you do! We hope to see you on the road someday!

We know how you feel, Kate & Bob! There certainly ARE a lot of options out there, and with everything still so new in the Lithium battery space, it’s hard to know what’s the right choice. So glad to hear you’re moving forward with Xantrex, though. We’ve really been happy with our new system, and all the benefits it brings, so we hope you’ll be happy, too! Safe travels!!
