Converting our RV lights from incandescent, fluorescent and halogen to cool, energy-efficient LEDs was the most satisfying mod we’ve done in nearly 13 years on the road. So we’re pleased to be offering $300 worth of LEDs as the prize in our latest RVgeeks Giveaway!
On Sunday, February 14, 2016 one lucky viewer will win a $300 Online Shopping Certificate to our favorite LED supplier, M4 Products. A big Thanks! to Steve, the owner of M4, for providing this great prize and the special discount too!

If you’ve seen our previous videos in this series, you know what big fans of M4 Products we are. As a fellow RVer (as well as an engineer), Steve is incredibly knowledgeable about LED applications for RVs, and the quality of his products is obvious. We’ve looked at, and tried, our fair share of LED bulbs, and M4’s are the best quality and value we’ve found. Flying up to New Hampshire next week to pick up our new motorhome and then driving back here to Texas. Love your videos and How To’s they’ve been a big help, thanks! However, in this video, what really peaked my interest was that nifty looking round cheese cutter thingy? What is that?
Thanks again
Congratulations Tom & Bonnie on your upcoming RV purchase! Very excited for you. :)
We LOVE that you spotted our favorite cheese accessory! Well, it’s actually as much “conversation piece” as a way to serve cheese. The evening we shot this video was the first time we showed it to our friends Nikki & Jason, and they loved it, too. It was actually a gift to us, but we liked it to much, we’ve also given one as a gift.
It’s made by Beekman 1820 (in upstate NY as I recall). It’s called the “Ghoast Maker” and sold as stand-alone item, or as a bundle with Beekman’s fantastic Ghoast cheese. It’s a little pricey, but a nice splurge and a great gift. We actually just checked their website, and it’s currently out of stock: http://shop.beekman1802.com/search?q=ghoast
But we found the same exact thing (a little cheaper even) here: http://amzn.to/2m4c6um
It seems to work with any round cheese, and the type we were serving to Nikki & Jason that night was actually one of our favorites: P’tit Basque, which we buy at Costco. It’s also available online: http://amzn.to/2mOGNlw
Enjoy!
Thanks a bunch. At 61, I’m a slow learner, and need plenty of help. You guys have helped in ways you can’t possibly realize! Keep up the good work.
Thanks Glenn, So great to hear. Based on your question, we just talked to Steve, and we’re going to finally go ahead with our basement bulbs! Ours are really easy ones to do… just plug & play. So that you don’t have to wait for the video (of course there will be one!), here are the type we’ll probably be going with: http://www.m4products.com/1156-30-2835-cw-1141-cool-white-economy-2835-smd-light-bulb-with-round-base/
They’re single-contact push & turn bulbs, which means they install in half a second with no tools. If you buy anything from M4, don’t forget that the “rvgeeks” discount code saves 5%!
This is a question, rather than a comment. I’ve watched your LED upgrade videos with great interest, but what I haven’t seen, is whether or not you upgraded your Basement/Storage lighting, and if so, what did you use?
Hi Glenn! We’ve held off upgrading our basement lights because they’re not on all that much. But your timing is amazing, as we’re meeting Steve from M4 LEDs at his new shop tomorrow to caravan out into the desert with him for some ATVing. We’ll ask him what he recommends, and maybe we’ll go ahead and do them. Of course we’ll make a video about it if we do!
Clearly y’all misspelled my name! :) Congrats Brian H. and enjoy your lights!
I didn’t win :( Still love your videos and info though.
Sorry Chris… but thanks for understanding. ;-)
Love the videos – keep them coming..
Thanks learned lots of short cut thank you Rv geeks and those beautiful camping spots you share thanks again.
Always pleased to see what you guys have to offer & help us with
I will be entering every day, but when I tried to earn extra by entering it on FB, it said the link was not safe and would not let me post unless I removed the link????
Hi Valerie! Facebook is not one of the options for receiving extra entries… only Twitter & Pinterest. We use Giveaway tools, and they don’t interface with Facebook. Sorry, but we appreciate your efforts. Best of luck in the contest!
I viewed all your videos about upgrading to LEDs, and I want to know how you determined which bulb models you needed to order from M4 Products. We have a Newmar Ventana MH. Thanks.
Hi David,
The easiest way to get started is to look at the base of the bulb and determine if it’s a wedge base, bi-pin base, or single contact. M4’s website has everything broken out that way. From there, you can determine the color you want (cool white, natural white or warm white). The number of LEDs will determine the brightness of the bulb.
If you have questions about which is the correct replacement for the bulb you have, Steve at M4 is always available to help. But you may want to try ordering a few samples first… different colors and/or different brightnesses to determine what will work for you. Because there are so many options, it can take a little trial-and-error to determine what will work best for you.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for the help.
We just love your videos. We will be full time next month. So our new chapter begins. We will be small but mighty.
Thanks Diana! And congratulations on going full-time! You must be so excited. ?
Great video
Changed over most of our lights to LED.
We have a 1994 Georgia boy 34ft .
Your videos are great. It’s amazing how little power the led’s draw compared to the bulbs that came in the RV.
Great info on several subjects. I appreciate you, Tiki
Great info on LED lighting
I’ve learned alot of RV stuff from the geeks. Thank you so much.
As a new owner, I would have been lost without you. Thanks for all your knowledge and help and keep up the great work!
Thanks Tim! So good to hear. Welcome to the wonderful world of RVing!
I used M4 good service and help
I am in the process of buying a Scamp. Your videos have given me insight and information to aid in this quest.
So good to hear, George. Best of luck with you new rig!
You didn’t do a video of the Samsung Refer install by chance did you? How do you keep the doors closed? I’m going to be installing mine next month, so I’m fairly curious. Also how are you powering it?
Love your videos guys!
Thanks Don! We did the fridge upgrade before we started making videos, so sorry, no footage. We use a Velcro strap around the fridge door handles, plus one across the front of the freezer, which is attached to tiny eyelets that we screwed into the wood frame around the fridge on each side. Not fancy, but discreet when the straps are removed and gets the job done. By the way, it is the greatest fridge ever! Hope you love it as much as we do.
Sorry… We’re powering our fridge off our 2800 watt pure sine inverter. It draws a pretty small amount of power. We wanted to add 2 extra house batteries, but no room for them. ?
