Akaroa, New Zealand Waterfront Freedom Camping

Akaroa, New Zealand Waterfront Freedom Camping

While in port in Akaroa, NZ, we were excited to find a “Freedom Camping” location within walking distance of the harbor. Freedom Camping is officially designated dry camping, and a popular way to camp in New Zealand.

We were pleased to connect with a lovely couple from Denmark, who were traveling in a rented campervan. After talking with them for quite a while, we’re more excited than ever to be picking up our own campervan next week. :)

While in Akaroa, we also cruised on a historic ketch, experiencing the beauty and wildlife of the area.
