The Safest, Most Secure RV Storage We’ve Ever Seen!

TheRVgeeks Great RV Products, Miscellaneous 20 Comments

Just like people who live in sticks & bricks houses, we occasionally travel away from our home. During our recent RV trip to Italy, we were away from our rig for two whole months. In the past we’ve left it in the enclosed storage lot of an RV park when we’re away, but we heard about a much higher-end option last year, and thought it sounded great. After all, what could be safer or more secure than having your RV stored INDOORS?!?!

We arranged to put our RV in storage at National Indoor RV Center’s new Las Vegas location, since it meant we’d have easy access to a major airport. The facility is huge, and immaculate. It’s so new they hadn’t even finished building the offices when we were there. Besides secure indoor storage, NIRVC offers sales, service and detailing, so it’s truly a one-stop shop.

The storage service is a concierge type affair… once arranged, you can simply leave your RV parked behind the building and drive away. Their team will take care of it from there, making sure your RV is safely and securely moved indoors, parked, and hooked to power. But there’s more. Did something break while you were on your latest RV trip? No problem… just arrange for them to service it, and it will be repaired for your return. Don’t have the time to worry about dumping your tanks when you get back? No worries. For an extra fee, they’ll dump your tanks for you. And if you came back covered in dust/dirt? They offer complete wash & wax services.

When you’re ready to go RVing, simply call or log into their website to schedule your pickup. They’ll get your rig out of storage, check your batteries and tire pressures, park your rig out back, fill your fresh water tank, and even turn your fridge on if you’d like… so when you get there, you can load your groceries up right away, and hit the road!

We were duly impressed with NIRVC’s services. More importantly, we were impressed with an obvious company-wide dedication to customer satisfaction. They also have locations in Phoenix, Dallas and Atlanta.

  1. They do offer the best safest storage I have seen. If you think the price is to hi think what it would cost if someone broke into your RV/home while you were gone. Also the security of not worrying about hail or damaging winds while you were gone.
Just curious, what year is your Newmar?

Those are all the same as our thoughts, Bill! Sometimes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! And the intangible benefit of not worrying about the safety/security of our RV while we were away? PRICELESS! 😉 Our Newmar is a 2005, by the way!

  2. We had a Great visit to NIRVC for a battery service issue just before y’all stored your coach. The service team went above and beyond to find and fix our problem. We may be shopping for a newer coach this year and hope to give the sales team a try also!
Thanks for your videos – loved the trip to Italy!!! See you down the road!

  3. Glad NIRVC worked so well for you. Out of curiosity, we checked their rates for our own rig and confirmed $10-11 per foot depending upon location. That’s a pretty decent price considering the services you get (i.e. power, heat, and concierge) plus additional options like service — and no lease. Unfortunately, NIRVC does not have facilities anywhere near our upper midwest home.

We do have an annual lease for indoor storage in the exurbs of Chicago that runs only $6 per foot. Services include in/out by appointment as well as heat in the winter, but no power is provided. And we pay whether we use our storage or not — like right now while we’re on a 3 month road trip. If we prorate the lease and account for periods of non-use, we’re paying more like $9 per foot for actual use.If you added in power, NIRVC’s rates are looking pretty good. That said, we are really happy with our indoor storage arrangement; our landlord has a much smaller operation than a typical IRVC location, and they treat us like royalty.

      1. Speaking of roadwork, we’re currently visiting the Palm Coast of Florida, just below St. Augustine, working our way southward. It was a balmy 90F yesterday.

We are looking forward to finally meeting you in February at the RVillage Rally.

The cost isn’t out of line with the top-notch service being provided. Not everyone needs or wants the best available option, but we love knowing that it’s available!

Exactly, Roger! Good tool to have in your back pocket, should you ever need it. We have a couple of friends who are thinking of using NIRVC as a means of storing their RVs in warmer climates (they’re in the north) so they can fly to it over the winter and take trips for short vacations. There are lots of ways to take advantage of the service, so we hope others find it helpful to know about, too!

  4. Hi everyone

Interesting flyover in the last section of your video at nirvc. Did you notice the number of rigs with small PV on the roof? I wonder if these small solar installs are for maintaining house batteries while in storage?

In San Jose we pay $450 a month for inside storage at Leale’s ( https://www.leales.com/ ) where they also do major repairs including body and paint work. Inside storage has a waiting list.

Hi Mike! Our RV came with one of those small solar panels, too… 5 Watts!!! Ostensibly, it’s to keep up with any parasitic loads on the battery/batteries when the RV is stored (with all circuits turned off). But we think a lot of those setups are the small solar upgrades that RV manufacturers offer… often 100W – 400W systems. That kind of low-wattage solar could keep batteries topped off when the RV is stored (outdoors at least)… and could keep up with some minor loads for someone with smaller power needs.

Thanks for the heads-up on Leale’s. Sounds like a great option if we ever need to store in the San Jose area!

  5. That looks like an awesome alternative. I’ve never been away from my rig for more than 5 days so I just left it at a campground, but something longer than that would definitely call for more robust storage methods!

It was awesome! This was the first time we’ve been away from our RV for this length of time… and didn’t have to worry about it at all! We KNEW it was safe & secure!

    1. Hi Scott, If you to to the website (link above) you’ll see the rates vary by length. I checked and for my 45′ coach it’s $500/month at Lost Wages. (Los Vegas)

Hi Scott. The pricing varies slightly by location… and is determined by the total length of your RV (mirrors, ladder, tow-bar if you leave it on, etc) which they measure for you when you arrive. With our tow-bar attached (but folded up), we measured 44’… which for the Las Vegas location meant $490/month. You can check prices on their Storage page: https://www.nirvc.com/Storage (just scroll down a bit and click on the green “Click Here To View Our Storage Rates” buttons). Considering all of the safety & security for the RV, and the services they provide, we thought it was very fairly priced.

  6. Looks very impressive with the concierge service and all.

Do you know: is the minimum fee the one month rate or do they give a discount for being away for less than a month?
