Is the Armadillo Conquistador F Luxury Off-Road RV Available in North America?

What in the “luxury off-road RV” is an Armadillo???

ar·ma·dil·lo
noun: armadillo; plural noun: armadillos
a nocturnal omnivorous mammal that has large claws for digging and a body covered in bony plates

Thanks to the Oxford dictionary for that helpful information. While this new off-road RV does look like it might have large claws for digging and a body covered in bony plates, we’ve decided to take a closer look at this behemoth, because we’re the curious types, especially anytime “RV” and “cool!” are combined!

If you’re curious too, come along with us as we dig into the deets of the Armadillo Conquistador F, and find out whether this beast is available to us here in North America.

And it’s HUMONGOUS! If you were to spot one coming toward you on the road, you’d likely think you’re seeing the offspring of a military vehicle crossed with a garbage truck. Seriously. It’s that big and heavy-duty.

Filled with luxurious amenities and lots of living space, this luxury off-road vehicle has been described as a rig that’s “part yacht and part RV.” And sure – it’s got the space to fulfill that description, but a “yacht”? Really? Land yacht, maybe. But, can this beast drive through water??

Let’s keep digging to find out…

Who Makes the Armadillo Conquistador F Luxury Off-Road RV?

The Armadillo Conquistador F is made in conjunction with MAN Truck & Bus, a leading supplier of commercial vehicles all over the globe.

Now based in Munich, Germany, MAN’s origins go all the way back to 1840, when their earliest direct predecessor was founded as Sander’s Machine Shop.

The production of commercial vehicles started in 1915, when MAN began making light trucks and chain-driven heavy vehicles. In 1924, they introduced the world’s first fuel-injected diesel engine vehicle, and a new type of bus built on a low-frame chassis. They eventually produced trolleybuses, tractors, and several types of powerful three-axle vehicles. In 2000, MAN also acquired the Neoplan bus company.

For decades now, MAN has produced high-quality heavy and light-duty trucks as well as buses, equipped with the latest technology and all-wheel-drive capabilities. Since 2005, MAN has provided their mondo all-terrain-capable platform to Chinese company Zhejiang Ruiye Special Vehicles to produce Armadillo campers.

Have The RVgeeks Experienced a Luxury Off-Road RV?

Well, we haven’t seen the Armadillo Conquistador F up close and personal (yet!), but we do have a cool story to share about another incredible off-road RV we toured.

When traveling in Australia, we had the privilege of becoming friends with our Boondockers Welcome hosts, Doug & Di in Woodgate Beach, Queensland. (If you’re not a member of Boondockers Welcome, check it out. It’s now a part of Harvest Hosts, and you can save 15% on an initial membership by using the discount code “RVGEEKS15” when you sign up on their website.)

Back to our story – while we were in Woodgate Beach, we toured an AWESOME 4WD rig that was custom-built for treks in the Australian Outback. It was a “Peterbuilt” because it was built by Doug & Di’s friend Peter. Read more about it in our post (Boondockers Welcome in OZ, Plus a Honkin’ Custom Outback-Ready RV!) or just watch the video here:
