Level Your Camper On the First Try With These Amazing Levelers

Level Your Camper On the First Try With These Amazing Levelers

Most RVers quickly learn how important a level camper is, but it can be a process of trial and error. Few other leveling methods offer as fast and easy a leveling process as Andersen Levelers. If you’ve never seen Andersen Camper Levelers at work, this is the post for you as we share this frustration-reducing tip.

In our 20+ years of full-time RVing, we’ve seen how well-designed gear can help with fast, precise leveling, and Andersen Levelers are one of the best. Even though we had a motorhome for many years, and Andersen leveling blocks are primarily for towables, we’ve seen them in action many times and are impressed with how clever they are.

What Are Andersen Camper Levelers?

Andersen Levelers are innovative leveling tools designed to simplify and streamline the leveling process for RV owners. Unlike traditional leveling methods, Andersen Levelers don’t involve stacking blocks or using jacks. They use a single-piece curved design, and driving the trailer’s wheel(s) onto the levelers raises the driver or passenger side.

We’ve written before about leveling a motorhome on blocks. But Andersen Levelers are different than the type of block most RVers are familiar with. They aren’t even “blocks” at all. Andersen’s curved leveler design is what makes them so easy to use. The shape allows a trailer to be raised to any height between 1/2″ and 4″.

To use an Andersen Leveler, place the narrow end of the curved wedge under each tire to be lifted (one leveler per axle/tire). Then simply drive up (or back the trailer up) until the curved leveler has raised that side of the trailer enough to be level side-to-side.

The biggest benefit is that you don’t need to know the exact amount the tires need to be raised in advance. Traditional stacker blocks require you to know how much height is needed before you drive onto them. If you’re too high or low once you’re on the blocks, you have to drive completely off, add or remove a block, and try again. With Andersens, you simply inch slightly forward or backward. It’s a brilliant design!

Anderson Levelers allow RVers to a very precise amount of lift, from 1/2" to 4".

As this trailer is about to drive onto Anderson Levelers, you can see how the curved design allows for VERY precise height adjustment. Want to raise or lower one side of your rig by 3/8″? Just drive slightly forward or backward.

For RVers who really like being perfectly level (not mentioning any anal-retentive names here! 🤭) another benefit of the Andersen design is the literally infinite fine-tuning available. If a typical stacker block is 1″ thick, you can only go up or down in 1″ increments. Andersons provide unlimited height adjustment from 1/2″ to 4″, allowing for perfectly precise leveling.

Finally, you place a triangular Tuff Chock (they’re included) under each leveler for additional stability. Andersen Levelers work great on trailers up to 30,000 lbs and tires up to 32″ in diameter. For more info, see our post on camper wheel chocks.

Here’s a good visual of how these innovative levelers work:

What Are the Advantages of Andersen Camper Levelers?

Several benefits to Andersen Levelers set them apart from other designs.

Single-Piece Design

Andersen Levelers are constructed as a single piece, eliminating the need for stacking blocks. This design simplifies the leveling process, reduces setup time, and makes them easier to store. Yes, the Tuff Chock is a second piece, but that acts more as a wheel chock than a leveler. Getting four inches of height with most levelers requires four blocks, or even more, since you may need to create a ramp out of them… and may have multiple axles.

Curved Shape

The curved design allows RV owners to drive their wheels onto the leveler, easily raising them to the desired height. This ensures fast and easy leveling. The ability to raise a tire 4″ off the ground using a single compact device just isn’t possible with traditional RV leveling pads.

Durable Construction

Made from solid, high-quality material, Andersen Levelers are durable and built to last. They can support up to 30,000 lbs and tires up to 32″ without warping or cracking. This is a great example of “buy-it-once” RV gear that will last for years.

Compatibility

Andersen Levelers are compatible with a wide range of RVs, including travel trailers, fifth wheels, and even some motorhomes. Just keep that 30,000-lb, 32″ tire limit in mind, and you’ll be good to go. They’re suitable for almost any type of terrain and parking situation.

Compact and Lightweight

Despite their robust construction, Andersen Levelers are lightweight, portable, and easy to store. They require minimal storage space in the rig and are easy to transport, making them ideal for travel.

Lifetime Warranty

Andersen Camper Levelers are made in the U.S.A. and are covered by a lifetime warranty.

The Andersen Camper Leveler is great because you can just roll up onto it until the trailer is level side-to-side. You can use a bubble level or even an app on your smartphone to see when you’re level.

For a more advanced RV leveling system to make your Andersen Levelers even easier to use, check out the LevelMatePro and LevelMatePRO+. With one of those, you’ll know in advance how high to lift (so you can roll onto standard leveling blocks stacked to the correct height), and whether you’re going to exceed the height your blocks can achieve because the site is too unlevel.

When they (the adult members of the Anderson Family) deface a national monument, I lost all respect for them and the products they sell. There are many similar products out there to chose from.

My concern is that the Anderson's are not as wide as the tread width of my tires. I do not like having overhanging tread. That's not good for your tires long term.

You have to use some kind of wheel chock in front of levelers like these otherwise your trailer will roll off when you try to unhook. Believe me, I know from experience!
