AllStays Camp & RV App: Plan Your RV & Camping Trips The Easy Way (2025 Updates!)

The AllStays Camp & RV App is one of the tools we’ve long kept in our arsenal for finding places to stay, dump our tanks, buy propane, etc. The app offers an extensive database and has been extremely popular. But has AllStays changed?

In this post, we’re diving into the features, benefits, and user experience that have made the AllStays Camp & RV app a great tool for us and so many other RVers. As we write this in October of 2025, we note several substantial changes since the app came under new ownership in 2022, including some very recent changes that are likely to impact your use of the app. So, let’s get up to date with AllStays!

An Overview of the AllStays Camp & RV App

AllStays was created by an RVer named Adam Longfellow in the year 2000. Not only did Adam bring actual RVing experience to the design and content of the app, but he was the app’s owner until 2022. He designed the app with RVers in mind… whether you’re looking for a great campground experience, or traveling a long distance and looking for inexpensive (or free) overnight stays along the way, AllStays can help. But the app offers far more than just information on where to stay.

Let’s start by talking about what’s good about the app and the service just in general, and then we’ll get down to the nitty-gritty, including how the app has changed since Adam sold it to “AllStays LLC” in 2022.

AllStays Camp & RV App has always had excellent filters for narrowing down exactly what you’re looking for. It includes options for places to stay that many other travel apps don’t, such as Elks and Moose lodges (for those who are members), Walmarts, Cracker Barrels, Bass Pro Shops, Cabela’s, Camping World, and many other free overnighting locations. The app will even let you know which rest areas you’re allowed to overnight in, what amenities are available there, and what the area is like.

You’ll also find more than 60,000 pins for RV parks, truck stops, campsites, and more, and you can filter those. So, for example, you can look for campgrounds with 50A service, or you can search using a filter that shows a particular RV club discount.

AllStays is kept up-to-date and offers comments from other users, so you’ll know what you’re getting into when you choose a place to stay or a service to use. For example, if you want to catch some shuteye at a quick overnight stop and you’d like to pull into a Walmart to get your rest, the AllStays app will tell you what other people have experienced while overnighting there. It might say it’s close to the road and very noisy, or it was the nicest Walmart they’ve ever stayed in. Or maybe it will say that this particular Walmart no longer allows overnight stays, which is important to know so you don’t waste your time and fuel getting to a place where you aren’t welcome.

The same is true for campgrounds, RV parks, truck stops, and other similar establishments. There are more than 1,000,000 other campers and RVers using AllStays, and many of them have left reviews, advice, and tips right on the app. You can even add filters for your specific situation, such as overhead clearances, road grades, tunnels, etc.

The AllStays Camp & RV App also includes dump station locations, propane refilling locations, local weather, and the ability to filter campgrounds by amenities and features that you need or prefer.

Features of the AllStays Camp & RV App

Let’s take a look at some of the key features of the AllStays Camp & RV App.

Extensive Database

The app features a vast database of information spanning the United States and Canada, including details on campgrounds, RV parks, truck stops, stores, parks, rest areas, and more. Users can access comprehensive information about each location.

Filters and Search Options

AllStays offers customizable filters that allow users to tailor their search to specific criteria. The advanced search functionality is in place to provide users with precise results tailored to their specific needs. This is one of the most useful features of the AllStays Camp & RV App. There are more than 50 standard filters that can be applied, and in addition to those, numerous advanced filters are available. At the top of the screen, choose “Select Here for Amenities, Clubs, Rates, and Much More” to access the advanced filters.

The Allstays app offers many filters to narrow your search

Accessing the available filters allows you to narrow your search down to JUST what you need. Choose from campground type, height clearance, amenities, and more!

User Reviews and Ratings

One standout feature is the inclusion of user reviews and ratings. This community-driven feedback system provides valuable insights into the quality and amenities of each location, enabling users to make informed decisions based on their preferences. Users are encouraged to contribute by leaving reviews and information for other AllStays users. This crowd-sourced content adds value to the community, helping others to make more informed choices based on the experiences of fellow travelers.

Interactive Maps

The integration of interactive maps enhances the visual exploration of camping and RV sites. It’s one of the features we like the most, being able to move around on (and zoom in or out of) the map and having all of the available locations (that match our filter criteria) shown.

Offline Mode

The app offers an offline mode that allows users to download maps before traveling to remote areas, ensuring access to essential information even in areas with no internet connection. There are, however, some limitations here. Cell service is required for GPS, and, of course, internet access is required to download maps.

Detailed Campsite Descriptions, Amenities, and Facilities

Each campsite includes a detailed description, covering information such as site types, hookups, capacity, and other relevant details. The level of detail provided by the app enables users to select sites that align with their specific needs. Available campground details include (but aren’t necessarily limited to):

  • Official website
  • Phone number
  • Directions
  • Open season dates
  • Elevation
  • Rates
  • Sites
  • Hookups
  • Amps available
  • Big Rig access
  • Tents allowed or not
  • Clubs
  • Amenities such as water, picnic tables, pool, playground, laundry, bathrooms, showers, storage, boat launch, and internet access.
  • Propane availability
  • Pet-friendliness
  • RV dump station
  • Age restrictions

Additional Services Available

You can also explore other available services, both near your destination or en route. In general, AllStays Camp & RV provides information on the following:

  • Walmarts (with overnight parking reports), Sam’s Club, Costco, etc.
  • Other overnight parking options, including casinos, Elk Lodges, Moose Lodges, and more
  • Truck stops with amenities (larger chains may include links with fuel prices)
  • Popular retail locations (like Camping World, REI, Cabelas, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Bass Pro Shops, etc.)
  • RV dealers and services
  • RV rental locations (Cruise America, Road Bear, El Monte)
  • Rest areas, welcome centers, turnouts, and more

Weather Integration

Real-time weather updates for planned destinations ensure that users are well-prepared for their adventures. This integration adds an extra layer of safety and convenience to the overall experience. You can check NOAA Weather by GPS directly from the app for the latest forecasts.

How Has AllStays Camp & RV App Changed?

When Allstays was sold in 2022, several significant changes occurred, and in October 2025, Allstays unveiled several major platform updates. These changes may not be of concern to all RVers, but we believe it’s essential to highlight the main changes we’re aware of, as they may benefit some travelers.

App Is No Longer Exclusive to Apple iOS

The AllStays Camp & RV App is once again available to both iOS and Android users (for a few years, travelers needed an Apple iPhone, iPad, or iPod to use the AllStays apps, so this update is great news for Android users). Note that we are only discussing the app here. The web-based version of the system can be accessed on both PC and Mac. More details about that are below.

And yes – the app can be accessed across multiple devices.

Cost

Prior to the sale of AllStays in 2022, you could download the basic AllStays Camp & RV app, and you’d find some free features. If you liked the free information and wanted more from AllStays, you could purchase the app for a one-time fee and use it forever (see “Note” below). This is no longer the case. Like so many other apps in the RVing space, Allstays has moved to a subscription-based model.

You can download the app and access the database of over 37,00 campgrounds for free. But subscribing to the “Pro” plan ($9.99 for 1 month, $19.99 for 3 months, or $34.99 for a year) gets you access to the most interesting features:

  • Favorite locations
  • Photo and review searches
  • Unique filters for camping
  • Offline maps (helpful when you know you’ll be traveling in areas with bad cell service)
  • RV dealers and services
  • Weather NOAA checking by GPS
  • Check bridge clearances
  • Priority map updates
  • Syncing across devices
  • Full web access (great for doing planning at home and/or on a larger screen)
  • All campground details

While we get it that many people prefer not to have to pay a subscription fee, the amount of time and effort needed to maintain AND UPGRADE an app like this is substantial. And we’ve found the cost to be well worth it for the value the app provides. PLUS, you can use the following link and save 10% on your subscription:

NOTE: If you purchased the $10 app in the past, you can still use it, but with limitations. For instance, you can still search thousands of campgrounds and find their details, see and add reviews, use unique filters, use off-line maps and map integration, find RV dealers and services, and find NOAA weather by GPS. All of this is still excellent information.

What you will no longer be able to do is save your searches to “Favorites” (for future use), use priority location updates, sync across your devices, or have full web access. For those features (and others), you’ll have to subscribe to the new version of the app for an annual fee of $34.99. As of this writing, you can get a $31.49 deal for the first year, but you’ll automatically be charged the full price of $34.99 annually thereafter unless you cancel your subscription.

New Enhanced Filtering and Filter Categories

AllStays has completely reinvented its filter organization system. The newly enhanced filtering system consolidates related search criteria into logical categories, making it super easy to narrow down your perfect campsite based on your needs and desires. New filter categories include campground types, cost ranges, and height clearances. All of this information is designed to make it easier and less time-consuming for you to choose your favorite places to stay.

In addition, there are two new filter categories that encompass your most-used searches and your premium recommendations, making your trip planning quick and easy.

Favorite Filters

The first new category is called “Favorite Filters”. This allows you to save your own custom filter combinations so that you can access them easily at any time, enabling you to use them for repeat planning quickly and efficiently. Custom filter combinations allow you to create and save personalized filter sets that combine multiple criteria, and you can reuse them instantly every time you travel.

For example, if you need a budget location with laundry services that’s also pet-friendly, you can create a filter set with this combination and reuse that filter set every time you travel. Or, if you want full hook-ups and a place that is pet-friendly and has a pool, you can create that filter set and use it over and over again when planning your travels.

You can also “heart” your favorite locations, giving you instant visual indication on the map. This is a feature that was overwhelmingly requested by AllStays users, and AllStays listened and added it. This heart-based favoriting system allows you to easily track and revisit your preferred locations. You simply “favorite” a location, and its map pin instantly transforms into a heart icon that makes easy to spot your saved locations at a glance, so you see all your favorited locations instantly on the map without opening a single menu (your favorited locations also automatically populate the new “Favorites” category in the filter system).

You can even share favorite locations with friends and fellow travelers more easily with the “heart system”.

Top Picks

The second new filter category is known as “All Stays Top Picks”. This category allows you to find verified, high-quality locations that are designated specifically for travelers who seek reliability and comprehensive amenities.

Redesigned Maps

AllStays has upgraded its map pin design from circles to the classic teardrop shape that’s become the universal language of digital maps. This upgrade offers improved visual identification and reduces the clutter on your maps (especially when viewing multiple locations in popular areas). The underlying icon legend remains the same, but the upgrade offers a crisper appearance that makes it easier to distinguish between campground types, amenities, and services at a glance. It also offers an improved mobile experience across all devices, regardless of screen size.

Redesigned pins make the Allstays map that much easier to read. Color coding and unique icons make it easy to differentiate location pins.

Other AllStays Apps

While AllStays Camp & RV is the one we primarily use, because of its comprehensive suite of features, it offers several other apps that may be of interest to you.

Conclusions About AllStays

AllStays Camp & RV App stands out as a comprehensive and user-friendly tool for RVers, campers, and travelers of all kinds. With its extensive database, intuitive interface, and community-driven features, the app effectively caters to a wide range of diverse needs. The new filter grouping, favorite heart system, saved custom filters, and redesigned map pins are available in the latest version of the AllStays app for both iOS and Android.

Whether you’re heading out on a cross-country road trip or a weekend camping getaway, we think that the AllStays Camp & RV App is a great tool for planning your travels.

Does this app have good, detailed information for Canada?

Sounds good, thanks for the response.

Hey Rob. From our experience, it has quite a lot of information for Canada. You can download the app and see the freely available information... or, if you sign up for a Pro plan, you get 3 days to try it out and cancel if it doesn't have what you want/need.

I had AllStays on my phone and loved it.. Then they went to only iPhone use, no more android phone use? So, I went elsewhere.. I see in the last paragraphs they have gone back to android service.. Will they honor my original lifetime membership? Let me know...

Sorry to hear that you got caught up in all of that, @Jeff. We don't work for AllStays, so we can't say whether or not they'd be willing to honor your original lifetime membership... you'll need to contact them to ask that directly. All of that DID happen under the original owner, so we can't say whether or not the new owner(s) will be able to do that or not. Fingers crossed! 🤞🤞

I used to have Allstays and loved it! Then then went to iphone only.. That sucks! I can't afford to buy an iPhone just for camping.. You had a good thing going and blew it...

According to the Allstays Pro website, the data/site hasn’t even updated since 9/20/2022…over a year ago. They’re still accessible subscriptions but, don’t appear to be supporting the app with updates.

Good article, thanks for the update.

I can't remember the year you introduced All Stays to us but I did purchase it and used it a lot for a few years.

But during the COVID lockdown I took a look at All Stays, Boondockers Welcome, Harvest Hosts many other RV apps that I had bought and was paying for.

Upon review I have narrowed all the paying apps down to just one. That one is a RV trip planner that you recommend.

If we do more long distance travel I'll consider subscribing to Harvest Hosts as I've enjoyed the places we've found in the past.

I don't think that we travel enough to get the value out of the apps that charge the annual fees that some do.

Take care, John

P.S. Any hints on your new RV yet????

Thanks for sharing, John. We're the same... our "favorite" app tends to change with our travel style... and there's not one single app that does everything we need over time. So we've taken the opposite approach and just keep 'em all! LOL! Your system is definitely more cost-effective! 😉

No new word on the new RV yet... other than that it's a towable. Still a ways off from it being produced, so we're maintaining the suspense for now. 😂
